Dear Pavithra,
The CAT exam test your basic aptitude and reasoning skills. If you dedicate three months sincerely and smartly it is very much possible to crack this exam.
First of you need to get clear with the basics of the exam in around a month and then start giving mock tests as soon as possible.
Analyse each and every mock that you take. Learn from your mistakes and make sure you do not repeat them. Also devise a strategy to attempt the exam which works well for you. If you are able to follow these points then it will give you a good shot at CAT.
Hi Pavithra,
Yes, it's quite possible to crack the CAT exam with a high percentile in just 3-month preparation. Interestingly, there have been many incidents in the past when candidates have scored really well in the exam with the preparation of just a few months. You just need a right strategy which includes -
- Solving mock test papers regularly in a time-bound manner just like the actual exam
- Analysing your performance in the mock test papers with the help of academic experts to know your weak and strong areas and work on them accordingly
- Solve the questions you are sure about first
- And make your very own exam day strategy that suits you.

Well, 3 months is a very short span of time to crack CAT. But if you give at least 8 hours of daily practice and solving of mock papers every 2 days, you might be able to clear CAT. To Crack CAT 3 months are not enough.
To help you out I can give a plan of action:
you can study at 2 intervals of 4 hrs.
Take a healthy break of 1 hr between these 4 hours intervals, and give a dedicated time to solve mock papers, according to your convenience.
Keep yourself motivated all the time and go through newspapers daily to be updated.
All the best
If you ask it is possible, I would say, Yes. The next thing is how to prepare within three months? The first step is to gauge yourself against others and see where you stand among others. Identify your weaknesses and work on improving them. But be careful. A lot of people just work on improving their weak areas and completely ignore the other parts which are equally important! You may be confident in a section , but you may be surprised on the D-day! Dedication is very important as time is precious! Good luck!

Hello Pavithra
It is very much possible to prepare for CAT exam unless if you just follow these simple steps. You can perform good and if you have practised quantitative apptitude earlier also then it's like cherry on the cake. Follow these steps rigoursly.
1.Practise 2 set of reading compression on daily basis. Two quant topics and 20 words memorise for verbal ability. This should be done at any cost.
2. For DI ie data interpretation and reasoning, you can practise and get done with it in 1.5 months at max.
3.Practise taking online test and practice and rectify mistakes.
Good luck for your career ahead.
Thank you
It's never tough to do anything provided you believe in yourself.
So just to build that belief in you, yes you can do it.
Now, you just need to start working really smart. What is meant by smart work is quickly brushing up all the basic concepts of Verbal Ability, Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning.
Now what is meant by concepts, you need not start looking for it in books. Solve questions and you will get across a new concept in every question. However, I will give you a glimpse of it in a while.
To start with, join any good online test series like that of TIME, IMS , CL and start with sectional tests for the first month inorder to an understanding of each section individually and expose yourself to different questions types.
Next two months should be devoted to giving complete three-hour tests with devotion so as to set a frequency for the D-day.
Now, a little idea on what concepts might be needed:
RC: all that can help you is large amount of reading on various topics. Read as many articles possible especially newspaper articles because they give you a view point. CAT is known for giving RCs of very different fields ranging from science to fiction, history, agriculture, electronics , space , etc. So more diverse your knowledge is, easier it becomes for you on that day because familiriaty to concept helps you in reading the passage faster.
Also, it is seen that if you are able to answer 90% of RC questions correctly, you stand a good chance to score a good percentile in this section.
Verbal Ability mainly includes questions like arrange the jumbled paragraph, find the out sentence in the given lines of paragraph, find the right summary of the given extract, find the right inference of the given extract.
DI-LR: Questions related to graph. So the concept needed is understanding all kinds of graphs very carefully and precisely.
QA: Questions asked from concepts- number system, algebra, arithmetic, geometry, modern maths (statistics, probability). If you are thorough with geometry and arithmetic that serves a great purpose of QA.
For any other query feel free to ask
All the best!!
