Is Ph.d admission possible without net jrf in jnu ???
Hii Annu,
There are 3 routes for admission in JNU:-
- Direct PhD- You need to have Masters degree and two years reaserch experience with at least one research paper in peer reviewed Journal. You need to apply online for the notified vacancies, usually very less no of seats are there and it will probably be toughest route to grab a PhD seat.
- JRF Category - You need to have JRF(UG or CSIR) in the field your interest and apply for direct PhD, you will be shortlisted and called for interview. Based upon some simple questions related to your field you may be short listed. You need to have Masters degree. Interestingly, B. TECH students with JRF are also allowed. I appeared in School of Environmental Sciences with B.Tech and JRF in Chemistry.
- Written Exam and Viva-voce - This is most commonly adopted route by the students and has good number of seats. First you have to clear a 3 hour objective exam and later you are called for Viva-voce. You need to submit and defend one Synopsis on your probable area of research. Viva is usually for 30-40 minutes wherein you are likely to face 15-20 Professors of varying field. And, you need to convince them about your genuine research interest.
ALL THE BEST!!
