M a shia can i get in minority?
But in Asia/India we have two type of Muslims -
Ashraf: Sayyad, Shaikh, Pathan, Qazi/Kazi, Mirza(high born), Baig(high born) are few Ashrafs we find in India. Most of this families acquired the surname or title as per the role they were playing while serving the King/Sultan or court.
Ajlaf: Ansari, Pinjari, Malik, Mirza, Baig under are few well known Ajalf families in India. This category also includes local converted Muslims who have identical surname to Hindu surnames such as Patel, Deshmukh, Parkar(Kokni Muslim), Kaskar(surname of Dawood Ibrahim, Kokni Muslim).
Now we understood that Ashraf means high-born/noble or royal families and Ajlaf means low-born/not-noble families.
Most of the Ashraf comes under General Category/Open Class and most of Ajlaf comes under OBC. That means not all muslim comes under OBC, we are also divided in class/categories like Hindus.
