what is orbital plane and how it is calculated
Hello Sideeq,
The orbital plane of a revolving body is the geometric plane in which its orbit lies. Three non- collinear points in space suffice to determine an orbital plane. A common example would be the positions of the centers of a massive body and of an orbiting celestial body at two different times/points of its orbit.
In polar coordinates ( r,f ) describing the satellite's motion in its orbital plane, f is the polar angle. The equation of the orbit is
r = a(1 – e ^2 ) / ( 1 + e cos φ )
I hope your question has been answered properly.
All the best!
