Correct Answer: 50
Solution :
Given: Zinc and copper are in the ratio 5 : 3.
Zinc in 400 gm of an alloy = $\frac{5}{8}$ × 400 = 250 gm
Copper in 400 gm of an alloy = $\frac{3}{8}$ × 400 = 150 gm
Let $x$ gm Copper be added for the required ratio.
$\frac{250}{150+x}$ = $\frac{5}{4}$
⇒ $1000$ = $750+5x$
⇒ $5x$ = 250
⇒ $x$ = $\frac{250}{5}$ = 50 gm
Hence, the correct answer is 50.
