What is the full form of RAS and RTS?

Rajasthan Public Services Commission (RPSC) conducts several examinations for the selection process of candidates who will perform their best to contribute towards the welfare and betterment of the state of Rajasthan. RAS - Rajasthan Administrative Services

The full form of RAS and RTS

RAS and RTS are the two main examinations for aspirants who are aiming to serve the state through government jobs. RAS refers to Rajasthan Administrative Services and RTS refers to Rajasthan Taxation Services. The aspirants having a desire for serving the state of Rajasthan may have an opportunity to appear in the examination and fulfil their desire.

Stages of RAS and RTS

Stage-1 Preliminary examination and main examination

  • Preliminary examination: Objective type examination

The preliminary examination is a type of screening test to test the skills of aspirants. The number of students who qualify for the preliminary examination is eligible to sit for the main examination.

  • Main examination: Written(pen and paper-based) examination

The main examination is the written examination. The main examination consists of four papers that are descriptive to be answered.

Stage-2 Personality and viva-voce examination

After qualifying the stage 1, the aspirants have to undergo a personality test where they are given marks on the basis of their personality, body language and behaviour. The aspirants are required to score a minimum grade in the examination. The aspirants must score at least 10% in both the preliminary examination and the main examination. The aspirants must score 15% on a total of the four papers in the main examination.

However, there is a relaxation for some aspirants of scheduled caste and scheduled tribes to score a minimum of 5% marks.

Eligibility Criteria of RAS and RTS

For a candidate eligible for this olympiad, the below-listed conditions must be satisfied:

  1. A candidate must be an Indian citizen.

  2. A Candidate who will not be having the domicile of Rajasthan would be treated in the general category.

  3. Minimum age limit for RAS is 21 years and for RTS minimum age limit is 25 years.

  4. Maximum age limit for RAS is 40 years and for RTS maximum age limit is 45 years.

  5. Upper age limit relaxation

SC/ST/OBC Male Candidates/EWS Males (Rajasthan)- 5 years

SC/ST/OBC Female Candidates/EWS Females (Rajasthan)-10 years

Female Candidates (General Category)-5 years

There is no limitation for giving the RAS and RTS examinations. Only the age limit is to adhere.

2. Is it possible for RAS to become SDM?

During the training phase, RAS Officers begin working as Assistant Collectors and Executive Magistrates. They are assigned their duties as SDM after the training.

3. Can an RAS become SDM?

Yes, the trained RAS are promoted to SDM.

4. Can an RAS be promoted to IAS?

As opposed to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), the RAS cadres often begin with a lower designation. However, promoted RAS officers have the ability to hold positions that are comparable to those of IAS officers. For promotion to a post which is IAS equivalent, typically 25–30 years of service are required.
