The full form if RAW is Research and Analysis Wing. It is India's external intelligence agency. The RAW agency was established during the Indo-China War (1962) and the Indo-Pak War (1965). RAW was founded in September 1968 by Rameshwar Nath Kao, with headquarters in New Delhi, India. He was the first Director of RAW. The fundamental motivation for creating RAW was India's intelligence committee's poor performance in fights with Pakistan and China. The primary objective of the agency is to acquire foreign intelligence, combat terrorism and proliferation, advise Indian policymakers, and advance India's foreign strategic interests. It also plays a role in the security of India's nuclear programme. Samant Kumar Goel is the current Director of the RAW agency.

The most important reason for the founding of RAW was the intelligence office's poor performance in fights against China in 1962 and Pakistan in 1965.
RAW was established in September 1968 under the direction of Rameshwar Nath Kao.
RAW began as a section of the Chief Intelligence Service with 250 employees and an annual budget of around $20 million.
In the early 1970s, the RAW's yearly budget had climbed to almost $300 million, and its employees and workers were in the thousands.
Kao convinced the government to create the Aviation Research Center (ARC) in 1971.
The Electronics and Technology facilities and Radio Research were introduced to RAW in 1970 and 1990.
Until now the Government of India augmented another signal intelligence organisation known as the National Technical Facilities Organization (NTFO) in 2004.
The JIC (Joint Intelligence Committee), which reports to the Cabinet Secretariat, is in charge of bridging, analysing and reviewing intelligence efforts between RAW, the Defense Intelligence Agency, and the Intelligence Agency.
Under the Central Staffing Scheme, applicants must take the Group A Civil Services test. All stages of the Civil Service Examinations should be cleared, and all qualifying applicants should be permitted to take the RAW test.
Education: To apply for the Intelligence Officer position, candidates must have a bachelor's degree from a reputable university or organisation. A good command of one or more foreign languages might enhance those traits.
Age: Candidates must be under the age of 56. It is desired that RAW agent applicants must have at least 20 years in civil service.
Citizenship: The candidate must be an Indian citizen. There should be no criminal background.
To ensure confidentiality, RAW agents conceal their work. If their workplace is revealed, their adversaries will begin spying on them, which may be harmful. Each move of a RAW agent is crucial and should be monitored; hence, RAW operatives seek to conceal their vocation to keep foreign informers at bay.
