What is the full form of SHO ?

The full form of SHO is Station House Officer. This is the name of a post in the police station. The Station House Officer is the person responsible or the officer in charge of any police station. This concept is equally used both in India and Pakistan. Usually, police officers with the Sub Inspector and Inspector designation can be stated as Station house Officers. The SHO should have a good level of observance and be able to put a reasonable effort into city maintenance. The SHO also has the power to file a case and punish members of the public if they have done anything wrong aiming to disturb any individual or group. The SHO will have 3 stars as an emblem on his shoulder strap.

Functions

The primary function of the Station house officer is to maintain law and order within the jurisdiction. They are also responsible for detecting and preventing crimes within their jurisdiction. The SHO will also update and complete investigations of cases under the jurisdiction. Supervision and assigning duties to subordinate officers are also their tasks. It is also the responsibility of the SHO to organise beats and patrols within the jurisdiction. They will also collect vital information on cases and issues sustained in the jurisdiction. The SHO is responsible for the supervision and proper functioning of the subordinate police officers of that particular police station. They will also visit the nearby regions and cities to check that everything is in order. If there is any issue, the maintenance of the same will be the responsibility of the Station House Officer

Qualification

The minimum requirement for a sub-inspector police is a bachelor's degree. The degree can be of any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks. The candidates must qualify for a state/Central Government exam to get selected for this post. The cadidates who have just qualified the 12th standard will not be considered for the post of Station house officer.
