Sub-Inspector is abbreviated as SI in the Indian police sector. The SI controls the upkeep of law, order, and the investigation of crimes. Inspector is placed higher in the police hierarchy than Sub-Inspector, while Assistant Sub-Inspector is ranked lower than the position of Sub-Inspector. According to Indian police regulations, the Sub-Inspector (S.I.) is the lowest-ranked police officer who has the authority to do so among the police personnel who can file a charge sheet in court. The first lead investigator is typically a police sub-inspector, and he will probably be in charge of certain police officers. Sub-Inspector is the position above Assistant Sub-Inspector (A.S.I.). In the police force, the position of Assistant Sub-Inspector (A.S.I.) is superior to that of constable.
