What is the full form of TGB?

The full form of TGB is Telangana Grameena Bank. It is a well-known Regional Rural Bank (RRB), with 421 branches spread over Telangana's 14 districts. The State Bank of Hyderabad funded four RRBs that were combined to form the bank, namely:

  • Sri Satavahana Grameena Bank, Karimnagar

  • Sri Saraswathi Grameena Bank, Adilabad

  • Sri Rama Grameena Bank, Nizamabad

  • Golconda Grameena Bank, Hyderabad.

The mission of TGB is to provide committed, high-quality service in all areas of banking while being the most dependable bank for rural development in the state of Telangana. Additionally, it aims to deliver efficient and transparent banking services to customers at a fair price. TGB wants to guarantee complete financial inclusion, empower rural customers, and advance the Self Help Group (SHG) movement with a focus on women in particular. It aims to become a top bank in its industry by consistently generating profits through a healthy business mix.

History of TGB

In a gazette notification of October 20, 2014, the Government of India (GoI) changed the name of Deccan Grameena Bank (DGB) to TGB, covering the Bank's operations in Adilabad, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, and Hyderabad. Following the merger of the affiliate banks of SBI, the sponsor bank of TGB was changed from the State Bank of Hyderabad (SBH) to the State Bank of India (SBI). The GoI, SBI, and the Telangana government jointly own 50%, 35%, and 15%, respectively, of the TGB.

Organisational Structure of TGB

With authority over every facet of the bank's activities, the Chairman of TGB will act as its administrative head. All bank operations will be subject to the Chairman's reporting to the Board of Directors (BoD). The General Manager (GM) (Administration) has been designated as the person in charge of the administrative setup at the Head Office (HO). Dealing with Trade Finance Intermediaries (TFI) and other credit-related concerns will fall within the purview of the GM (Credit). All issues relating to information and technology and related goods will be under the control of the GM - Information and Technology (IT). Vigilance-related issues will be handled by the GM (Vigilance).
