The full form of TGT is Trained Graduate Teacher. TGTs are teachers who have finished their teaching programs. Although TGT is not well-known as a course, it is a graduate-level programme in teacher training. A TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher) has earned their B.Ed. and is a graduate; teacher training is not required to become a TGT. An applicant must pass the TGT certification exam with a passing grade to become eligible to become a teacher and be recruited as one in any department of education. It is necessary to do so to become a teacher.
TGT teachers are qualified to instruct children in grades lower than 10, including those in class 10. The requirements are stated below.

For the trained graduate teacher, the age limit is 35 years.
Teachers who hold a postgraduate degree and are TGTs are known as PGTs (Postgraduate Trained Teachers) and are permitted to instruct students in grades above the tenth.
