Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance (UMANG) is an app which is launched by the Government of India in order to provide access to various government services in one place. It was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in November 2017. This app is a common platform for various government services like gas booking, crop insurance, Aadhaar, Employee provident fund (EPF) and National Pension System.
UMANG app was launched with provisions of the 43 government departments that grant access to 150+ services and its target is to reach 200 departments granting access to 1200+ services. Currently, the UMANG app has almost 162 services from thirty-three states and central government departments and 4 states.

UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-Age Governance) is one of the main initiatives under the Digital India program in order to develop a common, unified platform and a mobile app to enable a single point of access to all government services. It acts as a master application, which helps to integrate the major government services from different sectors such as Agriculture, Education, Housing, and health among others. The application also enables users to easily access e-Government services from the central Government, State Governments, various local bodies and their agencies.
UMANG is aimed to bring governance to the fingertips of people through a 'mobile first' strategy. This multilingual app has been developed and operated by National e-Governance Division, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) in order to fast-track Mobile Governance in India. One can easily apply for a PAN (permanent account number) using the UMANG app. The e-KYC or electronic- know your customer can easily be done by providing the Aadhaar. Anyone who has applied for a PAN card can easily check the status of the application by using this app.

UMANG uses the latest industry standards as security measures like Mobile banking personal identification number (MPIN) and One-time password (OTP).
Apart from that, the account recovery options like security questions, email addresses and alternate mobile numbers ensure that the UMANG account details are never compromised. The account recovery options will appear when you forget your MPIN. In addition to that, the profile details are saved in an encrypted format in the system so that no one can access these details.
