The Central University of Himachal Pradesh was established in 2009. CUHP aims to give inclusive access to multidisciplinary higher education for all students. CUHP offers courses at two levels - undergraduate and postgraduate. Some of the main courses offered by CUHP are BA/ BA (Hons), B.Lib.I.Sc, B.Sc (Hons), B.Voc, BFA, MSW, MFA, M.Lib.I.Sc, MBA, M.Sc, MA, PGD and so on.
Admissions to CUHP are subject to both, the fulfilment of the minimum eligibility criteria as well as qualifying in the entrance examinations like CUET UG and CUET PG. Students are given all basic amenities and facilities such as placement opportunities, scholarships, and other essential facilities. According to the NIRF 2024 report of the Central University of Himachal Pradesh, the median salary package for the courses ranged from Rs 2.40 Lakhs to Rs 2.75 Lakhs.

Central University of Himachal Pradesh provides scholarships to the meritorious and needy aspirants. Central University of Himachal Pradesh scholarships are Freeship/Fee Concession and Jyoti Prakash Support Scholarship Programme. To avail the scholarship, candidates have to meet the eligibility criteria. CUHP scholarship is available for M.A. History students and students who have lost their family members during COVID pandemic. To avail fee concession, candidates should have minimum 55% marks in the qualifying exam with annual family income up to Rs. 5 lakhs. After meeting the eligibility criteria candidates are awarded the scholarship amount. The fee is waived off under this scheme. The eligibility criteria of Central University of Himachal Pradesh scholarship is given in detail in the table below.

The infrastructure of Central University of Himachal Pradesh is quite simple and they have a very limited and very small area and they generally provide a very limited PG courses for the students and they have only one ground in center.
Central university dharamshala is well developed and providing all basic facilities to students like wifi in all campus, libraries, play ground, auditorium,hostels for both boys and girls at very low cost.
