Course Overview

Adequate housing facilities, inclusive dwelling environments, and sustainable living setups are the need of the hour across societies. Understand and master the key design strategies for facilitating environment-friendly urban development with the Global Housing Design course. The six-week training requires candidates to put in 4-5 hours of work every week. Students learn through interviews with residents and practitioners, case studies, videos, and feedback sessions.

More than a billion people currently dwell in slums and improving the living conditions for a populace growing by the minute is a challenge. Every location, region, city, and country demands definite residential models and prototypes.  With the Global Housing Design certification programme students will gain in-depth knowledge about the varying housing design needs.

The edX Global Housing Design online course extensively covers the range of economic, environmental, and social factors instrumental in designing housing settlements. The programme allows learners to examine the aspects of community, environment, and time through specific design approaches, including clustering, typological mix, and incrementality. The Delft University of Technology in partnership with Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC) offers this instructor-led training.

The self-paced programme offers two tracks, namely, paid certificate and free. In the former mode, the candidates will have unlimited access and in the latter track, they will have access only for a limited duration.
