Course Overview

Renewable energy sources are becoming increasingly popular and emerging as alternatives to fossil-based fuels and conventional raw materials. That is primarily due to the looming threat that is climate change. Microorganisms and their unique properties can be used to convert organic waste into biomaterials and biofuels. The Industrial Biotechnology programme will equip you with the tools and insights to design these sustainable biotechnological processes.

By joining the Industrial Biotechnology certification course, you can learn industrial biotechnology basics from six experienced course leaders. You will learn how to design the fermentation process and produce fuels, foodstuffs, and useful chemicals. This programme aims to encourage you to develop your very own sustainable biotechnological strategy and assess its performance.

The Industrial Biotechnology online course is the product of a collaboration between three very esteemed institutions: the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), the University of Campinas, and the international BE-Basic consortium. It is a seven-week, intermediate programme in Engineering. A verified, purchasable course completion certificate is also available to showcase your skill if you have opted for the verified track. In the free mode, the students can audit the programme for a limited duration.
