Course Overview

With the Solar Energy: Photovoltaic (PV) Systems program, candidates will learn about the process of turning solar cells into full modules and applying these modules to PV systems. The curriculum covers the design of different photovoltaic system types, such as residential-scale systems (on-grid and off-grid) and utility-scale solar farms.

The Solar Energy: Photovoltaic (PV) Systems certification course will help candidates learn about the functions and operations of different components involved in PV systems, including batteries, inverters, DC-DC converters, and how they interact with the grid and the modules. They will then know how to work with these components and incorporate them while designing, planning, and installing real PV systems.

After completing the Solar Energy: Photovoltaic (PV) Systems training, candidates will better understand a PV system’s performance under different solar energy applications. They will also know how to estimate the energy yield for the system that their client is looking to install.

This course is a part of TU Delft’s Solar Energy Engineering MicroMasters program, which covers all relevant aspects of photovoltaic energy conversion, systems, and technologies. There are two modes for the learners to join the programme, namely, verified and free audit. In the former mode, the learner will have a certificate of completion and unlimited access to the programme. In the latter mode, the candidates will get access only for a limited period.
