With the Solar Energy: Photovoltaic (PV) Systems program, candidates will learn about the process of turning solar cells into full modules and applying these modules to PV systems. The curriculum covers the design of different photovoltaic system types, such as residential-scale systems (on-grid and off-grid) and utility-scale solar farms.
The Solar Energy: Photovoltaic (PV) Systems certification course will help candidates learn about the functions and operations of different components involved in PV systems, including batteries, inverters, DC-DC converters, and how they interact with the grid and the modules. They will then know how to work with these components and incorporate them while designing, planning, and installing real PV systems.
After completing the Solar Energy: Photovoltaic (PV) Systems training, candidates will better understand a PV system’s performance under different solar energy applications. They will also know how to estimate the energy yield for the system that their client is looking to install.
This course is a part of TU Delft’s Solar Energy Engineering MicroMasters program, which covers all relevant aspects of photovoltaic energy conversion, systems, and technologies. There are two modes for the learners to join the programme, namely, verified and free audit. In the former mode, the learner will have a certificate of completion and unlimited access to the programme. In the latter mode, the candidates will get access only for a limited period.

To apply to the Solar Energy: Photovoltaic (PV) Systems program, learners should either have a bachelor’s degree in Science/Engineering and/or completed the PV1x and PV2x programs successfully.
By the end of the 11-week Solar Energy: Photovoltaic (PV) Systems training by edX, learners should know the following:
Step 1: You can either go to the edX website and perform a search for the Solar Energy: Photovoltaic (PV) Systems course by edX, or click on the link given below to go directly to the course webpage. https://www.edx.org/course/solar-energy-photovoltaic-pv-systems
Step 2: To register, click on the ‘Enrol’ button.
Step 3: Tap on the ‘Sign in’ button if you already have an edX learning account. If not, enter your details to create a new edX account. You can alternatively log in with your existing Apple/Facebook/Microsoft/Google account for registration.
Step 4: Stick to the on-screen instructions till you receive a message confirming your admission to the course.
Application forms are not a part of the admission process. You can apply to the Solar Energy: Photovoltaic (PV) Systems certification course by signing in to your edX account. You can create a learning account either by entering your details or log in using any of these accounts Apple/Facebook/Microsoft/Google.
You can participate in some discussion forums even if you are only auditing.
A limited number of practice exercises are available to learners who are auditing the course for free. But to access graded exams and all practice exercises, you will have to pay the certification fee.
If you do not have a bachelor’s degree in Science/Engineering, you must complete the PV1x and PV2x programs, or otherwise learn the content of these courses, to apply to this course.
No. The completion certificate is awarded only to those who pay the certification fee and meet the certification criteria.
Yes, the completion certificate carries the program instructors’ signatures, along with Delft University of Technology's logo.
