Course Overview

It has never been easier to design robotic devices using actuators, sensors, and microcontrollers. Today, we use high-tech mechatronic devices as an answer to many global challenges. The use of low-cost embedded computers has made computer-controlled devices more accessible than ever before. Join the Mechatronics Revolution: Fundamentals and Core Concepts training to explore the fundamentals of mechatronics.

In this course, you will learn how to couple of embedded computers with sensors and actuators to create mechanical systems. The Mechatronics Revolution online course curriculum promotes hands-on lab experience with the TI-RSLK-Mechkit. The Georgia Institute of Technology has made this certification programme which is available in free and paid variants.

Become a skilled mechatronics engineer and create a fully functional small robot in the Mechatronics Revolution: Fundamentals and Core Concepts programme. This 16-weeks extensive course is a self-paced programme that covers the design process, fundamentals of actuators and their control, microcontrollers, and sensor interfacing. You can audit this course for free and choose to attain the final certification by paying a fee.

Eligibility Criteria

To enrol in the Mechatronics Revolution: Fundamentals and Core Concepts online course, candidates must be familiar with basic circuits and their components. They must also know about programming in MATLAB, C, or Python.  They must also purchase the mechatronics lab kit, TI-RSLK-Mechkit through Mouser.com for $162. If learners wish to follow the lectures without completing the lab work, they can optionally pay $19.99 to buy the TI MSP432 Launchpad, development board. This will help them practice the microcontroller programming techniques, as shown in the curriculum videos.

The certification for this online training is optional. Candidates have to pay a fee of Rs. 10,993 to receive the verified and shareable certificate.

What you will learn

Knowledge of engineering

After completing the Mechatronics Revolution: Fundamentals and Core Concepts course, you will be able to:

  • Use interrupt-driven programming to create basic programmes for microcontrollers
  • Use sensors, actuators, and microcontroller command processor to implement a mechatronic device
  • Recognize and identify a microcontroller’s elements
  • Describe the operating principles of sensors, circuits, and motors commonly used in mechatronic devices
