With an aim of expanding Hindi as a language for higher education, the Hindi University, Howrah came into effect in the year 2021. Hindi University Howrah is a non-affiliated university and is entrusted with creating scope for Hindi as a medium of instruction in higher studies so that the Hindi-speaking people of West Bengal are not compelled to stop higher studies due to language constraints. 

The Hindi University Howrah is committed to providing a quality higher education and it aspires to excel in teaching, learning and research in various branches of studies including Hindi language and Literature. Currently, the Hindi University Howrah offers postgraduate programmes in MA Hindi, MA Translation Studies, MA History and MA Political Science. Apart from studies in Humanities, the Hindi University will create scope for studies in Basic Sciences and Management in due course. 

The Hindi University Howrah has also recently moved to the Higher education department for permission to extend the scope for teaching three other subjects from the Academic Session 2023-24. Hindi University Howrah facilities include a library, sports, wifi which provide interactive learning experiences. Hindi University Howrah facilities prioritise the holistic development of its students by providing a conducive learning environment and modern facilities.
