IIHMR University introduces MPH Programme with focus on Implementation Science. Implementation science is a growing field that supports the identification of health system bottlenecks and approaches to address them and is particularly useful in low-and middle-income countries (LMICs) where many health interventions do not reach those who could benefit from them. The goal of this program is to enhance graduate training capacity and augment the number and quality of researchers in LMICs. The program will be offered under SD Gupta School of Public Health, IIHMR University.

MPH (Implementation Science) 2022-24

Programme Overview

Master of Public Health (Implementation Science) has been specially designed to provide students with comprehensive interdisciplinary skills in implementation science in the domain of public health for LMIC. This programme combines IIHMR’s excellence in public health education, and management with science and arts of implementation to help students solve global public health problems.
The course has been created meticulously to emphasize the importance of contextual factors, understanding of the relationships between the research evidence to guide on the possible the intervention strategies available, the context of implementation with a mapping of facilitators and barriers for more effective adoption, scale-up, and sustainability of public health interventions. Also focus on the introduction to the approaches needed to implement health programmes, interventions , and research findings in real-world health and social care settings, from a local to a global context.
The full-time MPH-IS programme aims to develop students' competencies in the following core areas: Epidemiology | Biostatistics | Environmental Health | Health system and Policy | Health and Functional Management | Social and Behavioral Science | System and Design Thinking | Implementation Research | Implementation Science


Eligibility Criteria

  • Be nationals of and residents in low-and middle-income countries (as defined by the World Bank) of WHO South-East Asia or Eastern Mediterranean regions;
  • Normally be under 35 years of age at the time of application for the Master’s programme;
  • Have Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree(s) in Health Sciences (Medicine, Nursing, Midwifery, including allied Health Sciences) or in Social Sciences (Anthropology, Public Health, Food and Nutrition, Sociology, Psychology, or any other Social Sciences Discipline);
  • Have proficiency in oral and written English and basic biostatistics.
  • Meet the academic requirements: -A bachelor’s degree with a cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 3.00 out of 4 or TOEFL paper based score (PBT) of at least 550, Internet-based score (IBT) of at least 80 or IELTS score of at least 5.5 -Desk evaluation on undergraduate academic documents
  • Have basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and Data Analysis Software;
  • Candidates with experience of 2-3 years in relevant fields will be given weightage.
