Course Overview

Exploring and learning about basic electronic circuits, that is, analog and digital-based with extensive use of circuit simulation results from the provided circuit simulation package is what the Basic Electronics online course offers the students in a comprehensive manner. This MOOC program is brought to the learning through the online platform of SWAYAM which is an Indian government (MHRD) initiative to promote accessible education in a feasible way.

This platform is controlled by national bodies like CEC, NCERT, and this particular course is under the control of the National Program on Technology enhance learning (NPTEL) which controls a project involving the premium IITs and IISc Bangalore. This course is hosted by IIT Bombay and will be under the guidance of Professor M.B.Patil. This course offers certification and credit eligibility upon meeting the requirements.

The Basic electronics certification course explores and analyses both Analog and digital circuits by covering every nuance of the topic which includes important concepts such as Diode circuits, Op-Amp circuits, Combinatorial circuits, and so on.

Eligibility Criteria

Work experience

Teachers and industry workers can apply to the Basic Electronics certification course. However, any work experience specifications are not available.

Education

Students are required to do a fundamental course in Electrical engineering such as on KVL, Network theorems, AC analysis, KCL and it is the recommended prerequisite for the Basic Electronics online course

Certification qualifying details

For getting the Basic Electronics certification as well as credit eligibility, the student needs to apply and qualify for the end-term proctored examination with morning and evening schedules. The students need to register for this examination separately with an additional payment when the registration form link is active. The students need to get a minimum score requirement of 40/100 which also includes meeting the average assessment score on or above 10/25 and final examination score on or above 30/75 separately as well. If the students cannot meet the individual score requirement even if they meet the final score requirement, the certification will not be provided to the student for the Basic Electronics program.

What you will learn

Knowledge of electronics

The learners will have a fruitful learning experience upon completion of the Basic Electronics Training, with an enhanced practical and theoretical knowledge in different areas such as:

  • The fundamental knowledge revision on Network theorem, transient analysis, etc, will provide the students a thorough base to start with the course which will also secure their basic knowledge regarding the topics.
  • Students will explore the type of analog circuits such as diode circuits in which its variations like full-wave rectifier, peak detector, and so on.
  • The detailed learning of BJT amplifiers and Common emitter amplifiers with their basic operation as well as the results are keenly analyzed by the students.
  • The Op-amp circuits which will be explored in detail regarding its working mechanism in linear regions like non-inverting and inverting amplifiers, integrators, difference amplifiers, and so on are given to the students.
  • The Basic electronics certification syllabus will make the students closely study the positive feedbacks involved with Op-amp circuits in particular Schmitt trigger and its applications.
  • The types of digital circuits such as sequential and combinational circuits are detailed to the learners.
  • The concepts of basic gates and multiplexer and demultiplexer decoder are provided to the students with results analysis as well.
  • Students will understand how a given logical function will be implemented and also, how a counter with a provided state sequence can be designed accordingly.
  • Students will work with several numerical examples which would help them develop a knack for typically involved numbers.
  • Students through the provided circuit simulation package will analyze realistic circuit results to give a practical idea of wavelengths involved in that particular circuit.

Who it is for

The below-given students can find the Basic electronics training highly useful:

  • Learners who are currently students or Ph.D. scholars can use the course for their academic purpose and can enrol in this course.
  • Learners from a teaching background or who are working in the industry associated with the course topic can opt for this course.
  • Anyone meeting with the basic qualification and with the desire to explore the basics of electronics can find this course highly beneficial.

Admission Details
