Course Overview

The intention behind learning the Advanced Partial Differential Equations program is to understand the physical phenomenon occurring in nature. In this course, candidates will explore the basic ideas, inner workings, and characteristics of first-order equations. They will then progress to three fundamental second-order equations. 

As mentioned before, the Advanced Partial Differential Equations certification syllabus will begin with the study of first-order equations such as the Burgers equation, entropy solutions, Reinmann problem, etc. After that, the course will explore the Laplace equation, Wave equation, and Heat equation in detail. 

This course is an AICTE approved faculty development program. Individuals participating in the Advanced Partial Differential Equations Certification will go through a twelve-week process where they will learn through online lectures and weekly assignments under the guidance of Professor Kaushik Bal from IIT Kanpur. Participants of the course will be eligible to achieve a certificate by scoring well in assignments as well as a final offline exam.

Individuals who know several variable calculus can join the Advanced Partial Differential Equations program.

  • If they are a first-time user, they can sign in by choosing their username and password or using their Microsoft, Facebook, or Google account.
  • They also need to fill an online form and the examination fee if required. 
  • Once the online form has been submitted and the payment confirmed, candidates can join the Advanced Partial Differential Equations online course.

Evaluation process

Advanced Partial Differential Equations training requires submission of all assignments and passing a final examination.

The average assignment score will carry a 25% weightage, and the final exam will have a 75% weightage in the final score. The final score will be the summation of the average assignment score and the final exam score. 

However, if the participants score an average assignment score of less than 10/25 or a final exam score of less than 30/75, they will not get a certificate. The final score must be greater than or equal to 40 out of 100.

1: As this is an online course, will the exam also be online?

No. The examination will be held in person. Candidates can select any one of the designated exam centers in their city to give the exam. 

2: Is it compulsory to pay the program fee to enroll in the course?

No. Access to the course material and the lectures are free. Participants only need to pay the fee if they want to become eligible for a certificate.

3: Can I get a certificate even if I don’t submit the assignments?

No. 25% weightage is given for the assignments. If candidates score less than or equal to 10/25 on the assignments, they will not be awarded the certificate irrespective of their final exam score.

4: Is this an AICTE approved course?

Yes. This is an AICTE approved FDP course.

5: How can I prepare for this course to understand it better?

Candidates can prepare for this course by learning the basics of variable calculus.
