Course Overview

Principles of Communication Systems - I Certification begins with various basic tools such as Fourier Series/Transform,  along with other significant modulation techniques like such as Amplitude Modulation, Frequency Modulation, Phase Modulation etc. Sampling process and Quatization, including Nyquist criterion and reconstruction of the original signal from the sampled signal will be dealt with in the later parts of the course.

Principles of Communication Systems - I Classes are intended to serve as a foundational course for introducing the students to various dimensions of probability from the perspective of contemporary digital and wireless communications. It includes ideas in probability and random variables/processes.

All students get a Principles of Communication Systems - I Certification from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) under the Swayam Initiative by the Government of India.

What you will learn

Knowledge of engineering

Students enrolling for the Principles of Communication Systems - I Certification Course start with a discussion of the energy and power of a signal, along with a look at the frequency domain representation.

Principles of Communication Systems - I Training gives hands-on experience on one of the fundamental tools in available communication - frequency domain representation of signals. Communication and this frequency domain representation of the signal is termed as the spectrum of the signal

After completion of this Principles of Communication Systems - I Certification, the learning outcomes include:

  • Understanding the basic working of communication system
  • Working with Analog Modulation Techniques and their comparative analysis and applications suitability.
  • Analyse the process of Modulation and Demodulation.
  • Understand types, characterization, and performance parameters of transmission channels.
  • Explain the Analog to digital conversion and Digital data transmission.
  • Grasp the Multiplexing Techniques.
