Course Overview

The Architectural Acoustics certification course consists of eight modules that are clubbed into three sub-sections. The first section focuses on an introduction to the course and sound physics; the second part teaches space acoustic design, while the third part covers the core aspects of environmental noise control-air and structure-borne.

Backed with models that can be used by Acoustical Consultancies and Architectural Designers for their induction programmes, the Architectural Acoustics course by Swayam is designed for a neutral audience. However, candidates are required to possess some knowledge of Architecture, Mathematics, and Physics to enrol in the course.

Moreover, this eight-week core is an undergraduate-level course and falls under the category of Architecture and Planning. Prof. Sumana Gupta and Prof. Shankha Pratim Bhattacharya from IIT Kharagpur teach this online course. Besides, this course is free to learn from, with an option to appear for a proctored exam at designated centres for a nominal fee of Rs 1000.

You can register for the Architectural Acoustics programme by Swayam for free. But to avail a certificate, you need to pay a nominal exam fee and appear for a proctored exam.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must possess a basic knowledge of Physics, Architecture, and Mathematics to join the Architectural Acoustics programme by Swayam.

Moreover, candidates need to meet two criteria to be eligible for the certificate. From the total eight assignments given in the course, the best six performances will be selected, and an average of 25% will be the minimum for an assignment score.

A minimum of 75% of 100 in the proctored exam score will contribute to the final score. The final score is calculated by adding the scores of the average assignment score and exam score.

What you will learn

Knowledge of Urban Planning

Completion of the Architectural Acoustics online course will help you acquire expertise in:
