Course Overview

The internet of things is a much sought-after technology in various industries, academia, and governments. Introduction to the internet of things programme will cover the different aspects of this technology right from research and implementation to business. Candidates will learn about the various applications of the internet of things in the civilian and defence sectors. Applications include infrastructure, space, manufacturing, mining, agriculture, healthcare, construction, and mining.

Introduction to internet of things certification is a collaboration of NPTEL and IIT Kharagpur. The entire course will be online and have a duration of twelve weeks. the learning tools used include video lectures, case studies, and periodic assignments. Professor Sudhip Mishra, from the Indian Institute of Engineering, Kharagpur will be teaching this MOOC.   

Introduction to the internet of things is an initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The entire syllabus and lectures are available on the Swayam website. Candidates who wish to achieve a certificate need to attempt an offline exam at the end of the program.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should have a basic understanding of programming to fully comprehend the  Introduction to the internet of things program. 

Certificate Qualifying Details

Furthermore, they should also score the minimum required marks in the assignments and end-of-term exams to be awarded certification. Participants will have to submit all the periodic assignments and achieve an average score of 10/25.  They also need to appear for an offline proctored examination and achieve more than or equal to 30/75. 

The final score will be calculated by adding the exam score and assignment score. This final score has to be greater than or equal to 40/100. Only participants who achieve all the above-mentioned conditions will be awarded the certificate.

Admission Details

The admission process for Introduction to internet of things by Swayam is as follows:

  • Step One: Go to https://onlinecourses.nptel.ac.in/noc23_cs83/preview and click on ‘Join’. You will be redirected to the registration page.
  • Step Two: Either log in with your username and password, sign up as a new user or use a Google, Facebook, or Microsoft account to sign in. you will be redirected to the online form. 
  • Step Three: Fill the online form and submit any documents or scan that is required. 
  • Step Four: Pay the exam fee if you want to appear for the exam. You are now enrolled in the course.

Evaluation process

Introduction to the internet of things training has an end-term exam for students to achieve a certificate. The test is optional, proctored, in-person, and written. Students can register through a URL which will be made available after the exam announcement.
