Course Overview

Separation processes are an integral operation in many modern pharmaceutical and chemical plants. The Introduction to Process Modeling course will take you through such processes, both conventional and novel. The traditional processes include methods like distillation, adsorption, and absorption. These techniques are quite common, and the technologies associated with them are well developed.

The Introduction to Process Modeling certification syllabus will also cover newer processes such as membrane-based separation. These techniques are slowly gaining popularity in today’s modern industries. The later course modules will extensively focus on these new techniques, as well as topics like membrane filtration, gel layer controlling, and osmotic pressure.

The Introduction to Process Modeling online training is developed by IIT Kharagpur and delivered by the online learning platform: Swayam. The course features four assignments, and reading material is provided to you as a supplement to the video lectures. You can also opt for the final exam if you wish to earn a certificate. The course has been approved by AICTE and has a duration of four weeks.

Eligibility Criteria

The Introduction to Process Modeling online training doesn’t mandate any hard and fast requirements. However, a basic understanding of maths, chemistry, and physics would help you grasp the concepts taught easily.

Your certificate eligibility will be assessed on the score you have obtained in assignments (best three out of four) and the final proctored test. You must maintain at least 40% (10/25) in assignments and 40% (30/75) in the final exam. Your final score will be evaluated, keeping in mind both the assignment and final exam score. While assessing the final marks, 25% weightage will be allotted to assignment scores, and 75% weightage will be allocated to final exam scores.
