The Experimental Stress Analysis online course is designed to teach the basic elements of experimental stress analysis. The program discusses extensive treatment of the most flexible methods such as strain gauges and photoelasticity. Furthermore, it offers information on the basic aspects of six distinctive experimental techniques, including Brittle Coatings, Speckle Methods, Caustics, Moiré, Holography, and Thermoelastic Stress Analysis.
The Experimental Stress Analysis certification program is developed by the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. It is a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) approved by AICTE. With the help of this course, learners will gain in-depth knowledge of the concepts such as exposure to photoelastic coatings and transmission photoelasticity.
The explanations in the Experimental Stress Analysis online course by SWAYAM will make the students skilled in figuring out ideal experimental techniques under given circumstances. Learners will also get a glimpse into emerging methods such as digital image correlation and digital photoelasticity. The elective course also provides an e-certificate upon fulfilling certain conditions.

Furthermore, there will be a total of 12 assignments throughout the Experimental Stress Analysis course. Candidates interested in getting the course completion certificate also have to take the written exam. The average assignment score is equal to 25% of the average of the best eight assignments out of 12. The exam score carries a weightage of 75%. The final score will be calculated as a sum of the exam score and average assignment score.
A candidate will be eligible for the Experimental Stress Analysis certification only if he/she scores at least a total of 40% marks (40/100). This final score must also fulfill the individual criteria of average assignment score (10/25) and exam score (30/75). If a candidate fails to meet either of these criteria, he/she will not get a certificate.
Experiment Stress Analysis certification exam will be held in-person at specific exam centers across the country. It will be conducted in two sessions – morning ( 9 am to 12 pm) and afternoon (2 pm to 5 pm) on dates mentioned on the portal.
More details will be announced after the registration URL goes live. Interested candidates have to fill and submit the online registration form and pay the specified examination fee to appear for the Experiment Stress Analysis exam.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras accredits the certification training.
Prof K. Ramesh, a Senior Professor at IIT Madras’ Department of Applied Mechanics, will be your instructor for the Experiment Stress Analysis course.
