Course Overview

Many kinds of explosions are observed in both – technology and nature. The Explosions and Safety course explains the various physical principles underlying such explosions. The importance of understanding such physical processes to safeguard against these phenomena is highlighted in the course. You will also explore energy release mechanisms in liquid, solid, gaseous and dust explosives.

The Explosions and Safety online programme by SWAYAM will also discuss the travelling patterns of blast waves and the primary, secondary and tertiary effects they have on surroundings. You will study the techniques of protection from explosions and prediction methods to determine the harm caused by them. The course is a 12-week-long programme crafted and presented by the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.

The Explosions and Safety certification course conveys the idea of how engineers should be capable of building better prediction and design methodologies. The methods should cater to both – create explosions as well as develop safety standards. Furthermore, you will learn about the quantification of damage done by explosions and the interaction of blast waves.
