Course Overview

Swayam and IIT Madras present the Rocket Propulsion certification course, an ongoing 12-week elective program specializing in rockets, rocket propulsion, and its modern trends. An undergraduate/postgraduate-level curriculum familiarises candidates with rockets’ fundamental aspects. The training describes motion in space, what rockets require to place space-crafts in various orbits, and escaping a planet’s gravitational field.

The Rocket Propulsion certification syllabus then proceeds with teaching about a solid propellant’s design aspects, operating principles, liquid propellants, various other rocket types, etc. core topics. An AICTE-approved FDP curriculum, this course is targeted towards Ph.D./ME/BE/MSc aspirants. It requires no prior experience in this program’s domains, which are Propulsion and Aerospace Engineering.

The Rocket Propulsion training also features recognition amongst HAL, DRDO, ISRO, Defense and Space-related industries, enabling course-takers to pursue employment in these sectors. To aid that, Swayam also offers a payable certification through their proctored tests and assignments. Clearing these, learners can obtain e-verifiable accreditation to boost their recruitment chances.

Eligibility Criteria

The Rocket Propulsion online course is open to all undergraduate/postgraduate students and has no minimum admission requirements.

Furthermore, the Rocket Propulsion course’s final score will evaluate a candidate’s eligibility for availing certificates. This will comprise his/her average assignment marking (best 8 out of 12 total) and Swayam’s test score (out of 100).

The assignment marks carry 25% weightage, where learners must achieve 10/25 or higher. Their examination marks will have 75% weightage, where they must score 30/75 or more. Only when candidates meet these requirements will they earn the Rocket Propulsion certification. If not, they cannot receive it even after securing 40/100 or more.

What you will learn

Knowledge of engineering

Completing the Rocket Propulsion certification syllabus will help candidates become highly fluent in these subject areas: -

  • Rocket propulsion and its current trends
  • Rockets and their fundamentals
  • What motion in space is all about
  • What rockets require for placing numerous space-crafts in varying orbits
  • How rockets escape different planets and their gravitational fields
  • The design aspects and operating principles of - liquid propellants, solid propellants, and various rocket types such as nuclear, electrical, and more

Who it is for

The Rocket Propulsion online course is best-suited for postgraduates/undergraduates currently pursuing any of these degrees - Ph.D., MSc, ME, or BE.
