Eligibility Criteria

Candidates do not have to meet any eligibility criteria for taking admission in the Materials Science and Engineering certification. 

Certification Qualifying Details

However, to be eligible for the certificate of achievement from Swayam, learners must score at least 30/75 in the final exam and a minimum of 10/25 in the internal assessments. During the final evaluation, 25% weightage is given to the average internal assessment score and 75% weightage to the course-end exam. The 6-best scored assignments are considered while calculating the average internal assessment score.

  • Crystallography – Crystal structures and systems, crystal defects, indexing of directions and planes, microstructures, and grain boundaries
  • Mechanical properties – Deformations (elastic and plastic), strengthening mechanisms, stress and strain, toughness and ductility, ultimate tensile strength
  • Heat treatments and phase diagrams – One component system, invariant reactions, Gibbs phase rule, binary phase diagrams.

Application Details

Applicants do not need to fill out an application form for the Materials Science and Engineering certification program. They can create a new account, log in to join the course, or they can sign-in via their Google, Facebook, or Microsoft account. If the candidate has an existing account in Swayam, they only need to provide their username, password, and email ID to log into their account.

Evaluation process
