During the past 20 years, the world has seen a rapid increase in the demand for Refrigeration as well as Air Conditioning Mechanics. There was also a rise in the employment opportunities available to these mechanics, with a total of around 11,000 new vacancies being added, or created, between the years 2019 and 2020.

While refrigeration is the process of removing heat from an enclosed space for reducing as well as maintaining the temperature of the contents of that space, on the other hand, air conditioning helps in regulating the amount of air in any large building. Eligibility Criteria

Education

The course is ideal for students with a prior background in Mechanical and Civil Engineering. Furthermore, considering that it is a technical course, a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering and B.Arch would be requisite.

Certificate Qualifying Details

The criteria for qualifying to obtain the certificate for this course is quite simple. Candidates will be marked upon the combination of assignments and a final proctored examination, which means that around 25 percent weightage is provided to assignments ( students must submit at least 6 out of 8 total assignments) and the rest 75 percent is provided to the examination score that the student obtains out of 100.

Furthermore, if the score obtained by the student is even 40 out of 100, they won't be applicable for qualifying for the certificate.

Admission Details

The admission to courses on Swayam takes place on a rotating basis. Once the 8-week long course ends, students can enroll in the course of their choice by simply creating their account on Swayam and joining the course, by registering with their basic details.

Application Details

Courses provided via Swayam are free of cost. However, a certificate is given to only those candidates who appear for the examination, after registration.

Yes, the offline examination shall take place at the designated centre of your choice, where you will have to answer a combination of multiple questions to get an officially recognized certificate by the MHRD, IIT-Roorkee, and NPTEL.

1: Who all should enroll for the aforementioned course?

In case you are looking forward to pursuing a career in maintenance and service engineering, project management, electrical engineering, or industrial engineering, you should definitely take up this course.

2: Can I enroll in more than one certifications at the same time?

Yes, after having registered on the Swayam Platform, you can enrol in multiple courses at the same time, although the highest number is 4 courses at a time only.

3: Does the course provide any financial assistance?

Since the aforementioned course is being provided free of cost, no extra financial assistance is offered. However, if the candidate chooses to sit for the certificate examination, he or she will have to pay a sum of 1,000/- INR.

4: What is the maximum time period within which I must complete the course?

This depends on whether the course that you have opted for is a scheduled one or not. In case of a scheduled course, you cannot register for it after the course has started. On the other hand, in case the course is self-paced, there is no deadline.

5: What are the necessary touchstones for qualifying the Certification exam?

In order to acquire a certificate on the completion of the course, the student must reach the cut off in both the assignments as well as written examination, failing which, he will not be eligible for receiving a certificate.

6: Can I directly talk to the course coordinator of my respective course?

Once you have enrolled for the course, a small inbox will be displayed on the course page, using which you can compose and send a message. The message will directly reach the course coordinator. The page will also display the responses or replies of the coordinator if any.

7: What is the procedure of receiving a certificate upon the completion of the course?

In case the candidate wishes to receive a certificate upon the completion of the course, he or she will have to sit for a Written Examination, after qualifying which, he will be rewarded with a certificate.

8: Is there a refund policy for the aforementioned course?

All those students who wish to apply for a refund are free to do so and their money will be returned by the NPTEL. However, following this, the students will not be able to register for the respective course again.
