Hi
This difficult to predict as cut off keeps changing every year depending upon various factors like
----------) number of students/ candidates that appeared in the jee main exam,
-----------) number of available seats,
-----------) jee main examination difficulty level.
-----------) branch preference by different candidates
-----------) the category you belong etc.
But yes,
When we go through previous year trend then ,
Under other state quota , closing rank for some of the nits for which closing rank goes low are listed below along with their closing rank in the 6th round of josaa counselling 2021 for obc category :-
------------------) National Institute of Technology, Manipur:-civil engineering :- 16470 obc rank
------------------) National Institute of Technology, Mizoram :- civil engineering :- 16651 obc
------------------) NIT, Raipur :- Bio Medical Engineering :- 17047 obc rank
------------------) National Institute of Technology Agartala :- chemistry (5 Years, Bachelor of Science and Master of Science (Dual Degree)):- 17842 obc rank
You can check the same at its official website for which link is given below:-
JOSAA 2021 cut off :- https://josaa.nic.in/Counseling/seatallotmentresult/currentorcr.aspx
So, to get a seat in NITs, you need at least around 16k - 17k obc rank, and for that you need at least around 93.5 percentile as per past year trends
Thus,
with 79 percentile, chances for NITs is extremely low. Similarly, chances for IIITs is very low

Hello, and congratulations for your result. You have got a very decent percentile so try to score more in next attempt at least near about 97 percentile to get CSE in any top nit.
Now talking about chances with this percentile, you have very low or to be honest negligible chances of getting CSE in any of the top nits or IIITs but still you have some sort of chances to get CSE in NIT srinagar, NIT Agartala and some if the lower GFTIs but still I would suggest to score more in upcoming attempt.
Below I am providing a link of college predictor where you can predict your college based on your percentile -

Hello aspirant,
hope you are doing good.
You will get seat allotted in polytechnic college after writing polytechnic exam based on your rank after the completion of counselling. seats in IIIT are allotted based on the percentage of a student got in their SSC. If a student got good percentage like above 95% then they can apply for IIIT, there will be chance to get seat in IIIT. or else you can join in inter in any course based on your interest.
admission into IIIT is based on the SSC percentage so you cannot join by writing polytechnic exam.
hope this will be helpful
Hello Tanish,
In my opinion you should always go for that option which will help you get a better placement in the future. For a better placement both your college and your branch matters. I prefer you to go for better branch even if it is in NIT because it will groom your skills and help you further if you want to continue the studies after b.tech. A good branch and a good preparation can easily get you a good placement. For more information related to college, you'll have to share your rank with us. You can also predict your college with the help of the link given below.

Hello Aspirant,
The Joint Entrance Examination, commonly referred to as the JEE, is an entrance exam for admissions into undergraduate engineering programs in India. The exam is held once every year and tests students on their knowledge of physical, mathematical, and technical topics.
The admission eligibility is determined by the ranks obtained by the students. The ranking system is decided by taking into consideration multiple factors such as a student's percentile, caste background, disability status, financial capabilities, and multiple others.
You did a great job achieving the 95 percentile and thus will have many opportunities in different branches of multiple top colleges.
You can check out the previous year's cut-off for a better understanding:
