Both of these institutions are highly prestigious ones. However, i will tell you some basic differences among these too.

NIT Rourkela has a higher rank by NIRF when compared to NIT calicut. However, NIT calicut has a lower fees. NIT Rourkela has a median salary for btech students of 6.5 LPA whereas for NIT calicut, it is 8.05 LPA, which is a huge difference. You may follow the link provided below for further comparison:

The first criteria for choosing any of these NITs, is the branch you get in these NITs. For example if you're getting a core/top branch in one and some average branch in other then you must go with the good branch.

According to my opinion I would suggest you ece in bit Mesra.

As college is only 4 years partner but branch is lifetime.

Although bit Mesra is also good college and ECE branch is also very good and remanded.

About placement:

Hello student. Both the colleges are really good interms of quality of education, infrastructure and placements. But  when it comes  to the branch of computer science, iiit hyderabad has a very good scope of chances and education.

Here are the other factors to consider:

Infrastructure and college life:

IIIT hyderabad has a wonderful infrastructure with well equipped labs and classrooms. Hostels are pretty decent and nice environment is always maintained. You can see that the campus life is going to be really well. College life is good with the right kind of atmosphere given to the students who come from different places.

F aculty and quality of education:

All the faculties are well qualified and experienced over here. And education, curriculum is made in such a way that students are made to acquire more hands on knowledge than just the theory. It is not just the books and classes. Focuses more on practical knowledge than the theoretical one. Education quality and the way guidance is given is really good.

Placements:

Placements are really good as many good companies visit this college. Most of the students gets placed and opportunities of internship is provided to the students from wide range of companies.

National Institute of Technology, Rourkela offers a four years undergraduate course in Industrial Designing.

As the placement opportunities, there are few companies which offers placements for Industrial Designing. However, if have good command over Ui/UX design, you will be in a better position to get the job in Thermal, Honda etc. (4-6) lpa.

It is still not treated as the core subject in India which results in less opportunities for placements. However, NIT Roukela is the best place to pursue this course. After completion, you can go for higher studies in abroad or perform  internships to improve the chance of getting good jobs.

It doesn't really matter which college you're from as long as your engineering fundamentals are clear. I will agree that being IITians or an NITian does give you that initial boost. NIT Rourkela is one of the best college. Placement in chemical engineering is really good out of 65 students approximately 55 students got placed. And as per for BIT Mesra is also same in case of CSE and IT. But I think that mechanical engineering in BIT Mesra don't have much placement . So you should go with NIT Rourkela.

P.S.- It depends on your interest that which branch you want to take. Because you have to give 4years in that branch so you should choose according to your interest because knowledge will help you get a placements.

According to previous year cutoff of various Nits you are not eligible to get any branch in any Nit college. Your abc rank i.e. around 35k is not enough to any seat in any Nit in csab counseling. Nits are prestigious institutes of India which requires good rank holder.
