Course Overview

SWAYAM is an initiative launched by the Government of India aimed at achieving the three basic principles of education policy; access, equality and efficiency. The aim of this initiative is to provide all, even the most disadvantaged, with the best teaching resources for learning. 

SWAYAM aims to bridge the digital gap for students who have not yet been affected by the digital transition and who have not been able to enter the mainstream of the knowledge economy.

The Intellectual Property programme curriculum covers a wide but definitive area of study. These include fundamentals of IP, the economics of IP, historical origins and international obligations, nature of the subject-matter, justifications, criteria for protection, rights, term, assignment and licencing, limitations, defences, public interest considerations, exceptions, remedies and enforcement. The Intellectual Property programme will also contain topics that involve the interface of intellectual property with areas such as human rights and competition law and policy.

Certification Qualifying Details

There will be two types of assessments for the certification of the Intellectual Property programme; internal exam and external exam. There will be 30 marks in the internal and 70 marks in the external exams, and the total marks is 100.
