Course Overview

The Basics of Scientific Visualization in Mathematical Modeling of Systems program utilizes C++ to introduce the participants to pathways leading to logical visualization in the presence of business-relevant examples. An immersive approach to this program will equip you with the skills to form a holistic view of logical algorithms as well as data structures for describing the objects.

This creation of the Basics of scientific visualization in mathematical modeling of systems course began as a subset of the former educational program developed by the Ministry of Higher Education and Science in Russia. Topics such as dynamic script execution and image processing are covered in its content. Also, in the second half of the project, the underlying principles of client-server applications are also brought forward.

It’s a 4-week program that requires the participants to put in 1 to 3 hours of time per week for optimum utilization of the experience. As with other courses, an option to audit as well as one to receive an official certification is included. National Research Nuclear University, Russia is the partner institution.

What you will learn

Programming skillsKnowledge of Programming algorithms

The Basics of scientific visualization in mathematical modeling of systems training focuses on the following subjects during its delivery:

  • Basic conceptual knowledge associated with the historical significance of mathematical modeling, introductory algorithms, and data structures.
  • Get equipped with foundational aspects that explain the differences between a Data Lake and a Data Warehouse with a video as well reading.
  • Application of the protocols that apply to script execution in a dynamic environment and the design elements associated with the creation of the MathPanel application.
  • Working fundamentals associated with console inputs and outputs along with dynamic compilation in C-sharp and a proven framework for MathPanel scripts.
  • Incorporate the image button and prototype polishing while working with bitmaps and image files to ascertain a high-quality yield.
  • Deep dive into the various Bitmap functions such as array classification, saving, and loading a simple Bitmap file with a gradient.
  • Develop a robust foundation of judiciously adding noise, smoothening, grayscaling, filtering, and alpha-channel incorporation for optimum results.
  • Equip yourself with functionalities available by dynamic programming pathways that result in text animation with suitable synchronization with objects and strings in a rapidly evolving programming landscape.
  • Put the knowledge of code review to practice by drawing an informative comparison between two strings, text files, objects, as well as image-based files.
  • Synthesize file optimizations by operating Html canvas upon closer review of the available files in the library via script samples.

Admission Details

The admission process of the Basics of Scientific Visualization in Mathematical Modeling of Systems course is explained in three steps as follows:

1. Account verification phase

It begins with your decision to enrol in this program. To do that, please follow the enrollment option towards the top of the program homepage. Clicking on it will result in a new page opening up that will present you with an option to either identify and sign-in to your existing account or to create a new account. For the former, please use your login credentials. For the latter, please provide your first and last name, a public username, a strong password, and email address, and choose your country of residence from the available list of options

2. Track selection phase

You should be logged in to your edX account if you have completed the first step successfully. Thereafter, in this step, you are requested to choose from one of the two options as listed below:

  • a. Official Certification path: This route is for those who seek to utilize their learning for impactful professional reasons as it leads to an officially verifiable certification. Please note that this requires a fee which is listed in another section
  • b.  Audit pathway: This route will allow the participants free access to the course content for only a limited amount of time, after which all the progress and media access will be lost. This timeline has been kept at 6 weeks. Thus, this path is for those who would like to sample this subject

Once you have made a selection from the above two options, please proceed to the next section

3. Payment phase

The third and final stage of the enrolment procedure is when you pay for the program. However, this will be applicable based on your selection in the previous step. This is explained better as follows:

  • a.     For the participants who choose to audit the program, there is no payment required as it is free. You will be shown the time left after which the program content ceases to exist. Thus, you would need to plan your studies accordingly to make an estimated exit. As an additional option, you will be given a chance to upgrade your status to have unlimited access to the course by paying a fee, which will be displayed on the screen at that time. Please use a credit card for the same
  • b.     On the contrary, for the participants who have decided to embark on the certified path, a nominal certification fee of Rs. 3,574 is applicable. Please note that credit cards of all major banks are accepted. This includes MasterCard, Visa, as well as American Express. Recently, the option to pay by PayPal has also been included.

As with all IT systems, a support function is vital and we at edX are no different. Should you need assistance, please follow the on-screen instructions by clicking on the help option positioned at the top of the screen. The keyword search is exhaustive and is able to solve most of your needs. However, if you need further assistance, you will find a way to reach us at the bottom of the page.
