Course Overview

A significant portion of the existing scientific knowledge on conversion relies on non-renewable fossil feedstock processing. However, biomass is the sole renewable feedstock. The Catalytic Conversions for Biobased Chemicals and Products programme explains how biomass contains the carbon atoms required to form molecules to produce fuels, materials, and chemicals. The Catalytic Conversions for Biobased Chemicals and Products training is designed to provide foundational knowledge on bio-catalytic conversions. You will learn about the design of effective catalytic procedures to convert bio-based feedstock into usable outputs. You will also learn about the usage of biocatalysts and how you can tweak them for certain benefits in biobased conversions.

You will also study chemical, biochemical, and microbial conversion routes with the Catalytic Conversions certification online course. Furthermore, you will learn how some conversion procedures are more efficient for a particular reactor. Throughout the course, you will have the chance to interact with scientists, chemists, and other experts from the field for a deeper understanding. Edx offers 2 separate tracks for completion of the course that can be used to opt in and get access either for a limited period or the access may be unlimited. If the students want limited access to the course materials they will have to choose the audit track and if they want unlimited access they can choose the free audit track.
