Aquaponics is a polyculture method that combines aquaculture (fish farming) and hydroponic cultivation (soil-independent food production) in a circulatory fashion. The objective is to recycle the nutrients present in the wastewater obtained from fish farming. To learn more about Aquaponics, take the Aquaponics – The Circular Food Production System course.
Aquaponics is becoming increasingly popular, especially among Urban Farming circles. To successfully set up and run an Aquaponic system, you need a broad knowledge base, from water chemistry and engineering to fish physiology, plant physiology, and microbiology.
The Aquaponics – The Circular Food Production System training program covers all these basics. As such, this online course serves as a foundation for interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary thinking and acting.
The instructors for the six-week Aquaponics – The Circular Food Production System online course, are professors and researchers from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW). The effort required on your part is just four to six hours per week. The learners have two tracks to pursue the course, namely, paid with a certificate and free audit modes. In the free audit mode, the candidates will have access only for a limited period of time.
