About Abdul Kalam College of Education, Meerut

Abdul Kalam College of Education was started in the year 2015. The college is affiliated with being situated in Etmadnagar Alipur, Tehsil-Sardhana, Meerut, UP. The institute has got permission from the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and provides two full-time education programmes. The college occupies a little over half an acre of land with a total of 201 students and 16 members of the faculty. Abdul Kalam College of Education for Boys and Co-Education for Girls means that there are equal chances for both boys and girls to learn at this college. The college is mainly related to teacher education and extends two types of courses, namely B.Ed. and D.Ed.  courses. The college has a balanced number of facilities to facilitate the educational and personal development of the learner. 

The library is clean and has a stock of more than 3650 books, of which thousand are titles; beside journals, encyclopaedias, and dictionaries. E-library is in the pipeline to improve the existing learning resources in digital form. The psychology laboratory contains over seventy tests so that students get practical experience in their area of specialisation. Facilities: Classrooms are well furnished and adequately equipped with a decent number of chairs, lecterns, and stylish black/white boards. For students’ health improvement, the college provides facilities such as sports and a gym. Other facilities are an auditorium for conferences and special meetings, a health centre with first aid facilities, a computer with an internet connection, a dining hall, and different hostels for boys and girls, respectively. 

Abdul Kalam College of Education offers two full-time courses: B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) and D.El.Ed. (Diploma in Elementary Education), both having a tenure of two years. The capacity for these programmes has been approved at two hundred students, while each course will cater for one hundred student’s intake. Both of the programmes are education programs and students do wish to pursue a career in teaching after the completion of their degrees. The college has taken these specialised courses to enhance its performance in the provision of qualified educators in the primary and secondary education sectors. 

Admission procedures that follow at Abdul Kalam College of Education are based on a centralised admission process and therefore follow marks obtained in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination. To enrol them, the college has to abide by the admission policies made by the state government, the University of Tourism and Administrator, and the university to which the college is affiliated. Besides, for B.El.Ed.,  the admission may be followed by other procedures depending on the university requirements. Admission to the D.El.Ed. programme is also merit-based; readmission may also be made with reference to the entrance tests or other criteria as desirable by the state government subsequently.

As much as information regarding scholarships and famous Security Forces College students is scarce, the following is a clear indication of the college’s commitment towards offering quality education in teacher training programmes in its course calendar and infrastructure.
