Abhilashi PG Institute of Sciences, Mandi, the college came into existence in 2007 is an affiliated college of Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. This institute is situated in Ner Chowk Tehsil Sadar Mandi and has emerged as pioneer institute providing quality science education. The institute occupies an area of 2.5 acres and teaches 7 courses at 2 levels of degree, mainly the undergraduate and postgraduate degree levels, in different sciences. 

The institute has a total enrollment of 177 students it has a freshman enrollment of 46 and sophomores enrollment of 50 and juniors enrollment of 50and seniors enrollment of 31, it has a faculty of 16 members. Abhilashi PG Institute of Sciences is one of the few institutes for boys and girls due to co-educational nature of the institute aims at providing education to both male and female candidates in the faculty of science. The institute boasts a number of amenities geared towards improving the same; the learning environment of the students. The campus has well equipped laboratories to offer practicals that help student in getting a practical feel in the various fields of science. The facility is supported by a well-stocked library which is also an information centre containing books, journals and electronic resources. For students that have such, the institute has provided for the relevant hostels for boys and girls respectively, to foster a comfortable and safe stay. Besides, the campus serves hygienic meals that are healthy for the students, in the cafeteria. For the purpose of nurturing the health of the people it serves, the institute has a medical dispensary that is opened at all times. The information technology is well developed to modern standard at Abhilashi PG Institute of Sciences as the computer lab is well equipped and Wi-Fi facility is available in and around the campus for easy access to the information technology source.

At Abhilashi PG Institute of Sciences various courses are available to meet the requirements of different interests in the sciences. The institute offers seven full time courses which comprise undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. At the undergraduate level B.Sc (Hons) courses that are offered include biotechnology and microbiology. The postgraduate programs are more diverse with masters of science being offered in Physics, Botany, Chemistry, Biotechnology and Microbiology.
