Acharya Shri Chander Technical Institute is a Technical Institution affiliated with the Jammu University and is situated at Ghou manhasan Jammu and serves to impart technical education in high standard. Although the precise date of its founding is unknown, it has asserted itself as a dependable organisation for diploma programmes mostly in engineering. Recognised by the AICTE, the institute provides four specialised diploma courses which are specific to different fields of engineering. With a faculty strength of 18 members the institute wants to impart quality education to each and every student in the institute.

Acharya Shri Chander Technical Institute with several facilities with the intention of improving the learning facility of the student body. The library plays a central role in dissemination of knowledge; it gives students access to virtually all forms of technical information. The college sometimes spends lots of resources in the acquisition of modern IT facilities that prepares the students to meet the challenge of technology in their chosen disciplines. Also, it has departmental laboratories within the institute through which the students are able to practice what they have learnt in their various departments.

The technical and vocational Institute offers four full time diploma courses in engineering each of which takes three/four calendar years. Total intake capacity of the institute is 75 as envisaged by the governing council from each programmes offered. These courses are the final stages in preparing the engineering student to be a productive member of the engineering profession or for an advanced degree.
