Agricultural College and Research Institute is one of the major constituent Colleges started in the year 1984, situated in Killikulam, Sivagangai District, Tamil Nadu. This institute situated in Vallanadu, Thoothukudi District, Tamil Nadu is purely involved in the continued development of agricultural knowledge. Presently, ACRI provide 8 courses with 2 levels of degrees for a total of 521 enrolment. With more than 57 members on the faculty, the institute can provide students with a student to teacher ratio that is diverse and ideal. Another factor is because of the co-education nature of the institution; ACRI encourage gender equality in agriculture. The college reflects its dedication to the quality of learning through offering an elaborate course offer within its department of agricultural sciences which focuses on specialisations in the broad subject area.

Agricultural College and Research Institute offers student diverse amenities that will enhance their learning as well as personal development. It is an information centre that comprises of over 15,370 Text and Reference books, 17 National Journals, 948 bound volumes and 251 theses. It also contains e-resources and a video/CD library assisting in the twenty first century techniques of research. The strategic importance of technology to the conduct of its mandate is well captured by the Computer Centre started under the Agricultural Research Information System (ARIS) network. For the students’ health needs, ACRI provides to students opportunity to use sports facilities and gym, providing access to physical health as well as offering an all-rounded education. The campus also has medical dispensary with full-time medical officer and nurses to attend to the students general health.

This institute offers 8 courses courses in their curriculum for undergraduate as well as post graduate levels. The undergraduate programme is the B.Sc Agriculture (Hons), while the post graduate programmes are M.Sc Agronomy, Economics, Entomology, Extension Education, Genetics and Plant Breeding, Plant Pathology and Soil Science. All these courses are full time and the objective of all these courses is to equip the students with intensive knowledge and practical experience in any chosen area of agriculture.
