Like Akal College of Basic Sciences, Pathankot, It is an affiliated constituent college situated at Baru Sahib Sirmour established in the year 2015.. This women’s only institute aims to impart quality education in basic sciences . Situated at Sirmour district, it provides the students an environment that is enhanced by academic challenges inscribed in the backdrop of the hills. The college boasts of a faculty of 24 people of considerable commitment that caters for the student’s needs and concerns. The institution teaches 16 different courses within four degree programmes to accommodate various fields of sub Disciplines in basic sciences.

Akal College of Basic Sciences has established a variety of facilities that are technologically advances to support the learning of the student. The examines equipped library has a collection of more than 25000 books, 300CD/ DVD and 54 national and international journals for better academic abilities. The library has a wireless facility and is open till late in the night, that is 9 in the morning to 9 at night on weekdays. The college also has well equipped laboratories to enable student engage in practicals across different field of sciences. For the development of all round students, the campus has adequate basic amenities such as a floodlight, playground for different sporting activities and an athletic track. The other facility is the open gym and recreational park, which can also be used for sports exercise and other socialisation activities.

Akal College of Basic Sciences consists a wide list of academic programmes in the basic sciences for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The college offers 7 undergraduate programmes, 6 postgraduate programmes and 6 doctoral programmes. All the courses offered here are full time in order to promote and receive intensive and intensive learning. The list of undergraduate courses is B.Sc Medical, B.Sc Non-Medical and HM Courses, Microbiology honors, Mathematics honors etc. Undergraduate level education programmes offered include a M.Sc in Microbiology & Biotechnology, Botany, Zoology & Fisheries, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Computer science. For pros who have an interest in research, the college provides Ph.D programmes in Chemistry, Physics, Zoology, Maths, Botany and Microbiology. The number of approved intakes for these courses differ, but undergraduate programmes provide 10-20 scholars per course, postgraduate programmes offer 10-15 scholars, and doctoral courses admit 2-4 scholars in every specialisation.
