Akshara Polytechnic College, Chilkur, was started in the year 2011 and is an affiliated college at Paleannaram Village, Suryapeta, Telangana. This is a co-educational institution that was approved by the All India Council for technical Education (AICTE) of India before offering diploma programmes in engineering disciplines. The college is located in a 5 acre campus at the present; the college has a student strength of 168 and a faculty strength of 37. Our college Akshara Polytechnic College offers three full time diploma courses, which is of a duration of three academic years on Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mining Engineering.

The college has numerous amenities for the improvement of the student experience and the promotion of learning. Analogous to the knowledge centre a library houses knowledge information and learning resources for students and application-based learning is facilitated through sophisticated laboratories for different departments. The campus provided an auditorium for occasions such as events or seminars to enhance the lively environment for academic activities. For the overall student health the college provides availability of sports and gym facilities. The canteen offers snacks and lunch, while the health clinic which is equipped with a first aid station guarantees simple medical requirements are met. 

Akshara Polytechnic College has limited number of programmes and all are diploma programmes which are full time programmes. The institute currently provides three diploma courses, Of the above, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Mining Engineering. Each of these programmes is approved for intake of 60 students and the total student intake is 180 from all the offered courses.
