Situated at Kolkata, the Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities is an institution of splendor in the field of speech and hearing disabilities. This affiliated college was started in 1983 and has served for almost four decades. With a compact 1-acre campus, AYJNISHD currently offers a host of programs to suit communication disorders. The current student enrolment is 154, with a faculty of 13. AYJNISHD offers 8 courses in 7 degree programs: Audiology, Speech-Language Pathology, and Special Education.

In addition to the library, AYJNISHD has well-equipped laboratories, modern IT infrastructure, separate hostel facilities for boys and girls, and a health centre with first-aid facilities.

The courses available here encompass a whole range related to speech and hearing disabilities. AYNJISHD has at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in all its full-time courses. Courses include M.Ed, MASLP Master of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology), B.Ed, DCA, and D.Ed Special Education Hearing Impairment.

The admission procedure varies for various courses in AYJNISHD. BASLP is done through an entrance examination by Osmania University or on a merit basis, based on the marks obtained in 10+2 optional subjects. The programs DCA and D.Ed Special Education in Hearing Impairment are merit-based. AYJNISHD is one of the very few institutions that impart only specialized education in the area of speech and hearing disabilities; therefore, it prepares a student for a career in this very important area of health care and education.
