The college was inaugurated by the then chief minister Mr. Giani Zail Singh on 6th February 1975. ASBASJSMCP Ropar is affiliated with IK Gujral Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar, and is approved by AICTE and PCI. ASBASJSMCP Ropar courses are offered in 9 specialisations in multiple degrees. The college is ranked 69 in the NIRF 2023 rankings in the domain of pharmacy. ASBASJSMCP Ropar courses are offered in the field of pharmacy and medicine. ASBASJSMCP Ropar admissions for the UG and diploma courses are given on the basis of Inter-se-merit in the qualifying examination. M.Pharma admissions will be given on the basis of GPAT examinations. ASBASJSMCP Ropar Ph.D. admissions will be done on the basis of entrance tests and interviews. Test-exempted candidates i.e. UGC/CSIR Exam/SLET/GATE/GPAT Rajiv Gandhi Fellowship awardees/ teacher fellowship holders/INSPIRE/ or candidates who are awarded Fellowships directly or by other funding agencies (ICAR/ICHR/ICMR/DBT/DST). The admissions for the medicinal courses will be done on the basis of merit scores or inter-se-merit of the qualifying examinations.  At the time of counselling the candidates are requested to carry all the required documents (photocopies along with the original) to get their seat reserved.
