About Ambika College of Nursing, Mohali

Ahmaka college of nursing Kharar, Mohali, Punjab was set up in 2004 and is one of the leading nursing colleges of today. This is a co-educational institute established in 1967; it is situated in a 4 acre area and is an affiliated college recognised by INC . Being a self-financing college of nursing, Ambika College of Nursing takes an overall strength of 344 students and recruited 21 faculty members. The institute offers 7 courses at three levels of degree, namely B.Sc. Nursing, M.Sc. Nursing with specialty and diploma courses for GNM & ANM.

The college has made it their pride to put up with a number of amenities that can improve not only learning, but also the general development of the learners. The campus also includes well-equipped laboratories so useful for practical training, which is vital in nursing training institutions. In it’s capacity as the knowledge source, it offers a vast array of services that caters for academic needs. To enhance on the health and fitness of students, the college has a Gym and sporting facilities. The I.T structure makes it possible for the students to have access to information technology carryout online studies and access other e-learning resources.

AMBika College of Nursing has therefore developed diverse nursing courses to meet each sector’s demands in healthcare stream. Currently, the institute offers 7 full-time courses of its disciples, which include undergraduate, postgraduate and diploma. In the undergraduate level the college offers B.Sc Nursing and Post Basic B.Sc Nursing. For the more professional focused education M.Sc Nursing is offered in Medical Surgical Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Obstetrics and Gynaecology Nursing. Also, college provides few diploma courses like GNM (general nursing and midwifery) and ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery).

Admission policy and procedures of Ambika College of Nursing are very structured to afford everyone the best chance to gain admission to the nursing college. The college has standard criteria that among which include performance in specific qualifying examination courses. Candidates seeking admission into Undergraduate programme such as the B.Sc Nursing have passed their 10+2 with science stream. Post Basic B.Sc Nursing programme is offered to the registered nurses who hold diploma qualification only. For M.Sc Nursing programmes, candidates must present certificates of B.Sc Nursing. These GNM and ANM have their own reservation norms based on the secondary education.

Degree-wise Admission Process

B.Sc Nursing: Seated in Ambika College of Nursing, the B.Sc Nursing program has admission of 60 approved. Candidates for this program should have completed their +2 examination with a science stream. The selection for this program is on the basis of the qualifying examination.

Post Basic B.Sc Nursing: This program is meant for registered nurses holding a diploma qualification. There are 35 seats available in the college for this course. A registered nurse with a diploma can only get admission

M.Sc Nursing: Ambika College of Nursing runs M.Sc Nursing programs with specializations in Medical Surgical Nursing, Community Health Nursing, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology Nursing with 5 seats available for each specialization. To get admission in M.Sc Nursing, the candidate must possess B.Sc Nursing.

GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery): The college offers a diploma program in GNM with an intake of 60. The admission for this is done on the basis of the candidate's performance in secondary education. 

ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery): This diploma program has a 40-seat capacity. Admission is also based on the candidate's performance in secondary education, as for the GNM program.
