It was established in the year 1942 by the people ardently concerned to spread education among the numerous inhabitants of the then grasing country. It is located in West Bengal, India. The college is spread over a sprawling 22.2-acre campus and is an affiliated one. The college provides a range of academic programmes with a student body of 3,827. The college has 57 faculty members who are committed teachers and offers 27 courses across 6 degree programmes. Ananda Chandra College recently got the approval of the NAAC and NCTE, clearly stating its commitment to quality education. The institution provides specialisations of a huge number in arts and sciences, catering to the general and diverse academic interests of the students.

The college is well fortified with infrastructure and has been constantly updated in all respect to provide one of the best learning environments to the students. The library is a rich source of books and periodicals catering to the needs of undergraduate and postgraduate students, research scholars, and faculty. At present, the library service is computerised with the help of the SOUL (Software for University Libraries) software, which is going on at the full swing. With this new technology, the library provides an efficient service of acquisition, searching, and lending. For the sports enthusiasts, there is excellent infrastructure in place: a huge gymnasium with an area of more than 7,200 sq ft, and two big playgrounds with the necessary equipment, both for indoor and outdoor games. These are under the management of the Department of Physical Education. The information technology infrastructure receives similar importance in an effort to equip the students with proper and modern computing facilities. 

The Ananda Chandra College provides different courses in studies holding to a number of 27 giving the students a widespread portfolio. The institution offers full-time undergraduate programmes in arts and sciences accommodating academically different interests.
