APC Mahalaxmi College for Women was established in the year 1973 in Thoothukudi of Tamil Nadu. It is an affiliated college accredited by NAAC. It offers undergraduate as well as postgraduate studies in many fields. The institute offers 25 courses under 8 degrees that include arts, sciences, and commerce and has an enrollment strength of 2,127 students and 48 faculty members. This 11.25-acre large campus is all female; that is, 100% female students, of whom 90% are undergraduate and 10% postgraduate students. The college has well-modernized infrastructures which support its academic activities.

The library, the source of learning, has collected 29,514 books, journals, and digital resources in different subjects. For easy management, it used barcode technology.
