Ashwini Ayurvedic Medical College and Research Centre the affiliated college in Tumkur Karnataka started in the year 2004. This men and women’s joint institute is affiliated to the CCIM and has numerous ayurvedic courses for all levels across its large area of ten acres. The college has a total student population of 515 students, and a total of 54 members of the faculty. Offering 8 courses in as many as 3 degree programmes, the institute offers training across the branches of Ayurveda like Kayachikitsa, Panchakarma, Dravyaguna, Shalakya Tantra, Shalya Tantra, Shareera Kriya, Swasthavritta.

The biggest study programme is the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) for which the university approved an intake of one hundred students. Besides, the college offers 7 postgraduate courses for which 5 students are admitted to each programme. These are MD in Kayachikitsa, Panchakarma, Dravyaguna, Shareera Kriya and Swasthavritta and MS in Shalakya Tantra and Shalya Tantra. Total intake of students over all course is 135 which makes the nature of the institute more versatile.

Candidates seeking admission to the BAMS programme need to clear the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – NEET. For admitting undergraduate students through a common entrance test, called the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post Graduate (NEET PG), is conducted. For postgraduation courses only, the selection is done through final merit index calculated on a total of 100 marks of a written examination.
