Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government Institute of Engineering and Technology (ABVGIET) was set up in the year 2011 is located in Pragatinagar, Distt Bilaspur Himachal Pradesh. This is a government aided college affiliated with GTU and approved by AICTE with separate faculties offering several engineering courses spread across a campus of 76.49 Acer. ABVGIET has a total student enrolment of 653 and a faculty strength is 28. It offers 10 courses present in 2 programmes, B.Tech and Diploma programmes in engineering branches like Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical.

ABVGIET aims at giving quality education to students with an affordable cost of obtaining education. The campus is well built with laboratory facilities. In terms of technology, the school has 6 computerised Internet enabled laboratories. The institute has its library in addition to textbooks, reference books, journals, etc., that are frequently used by students and faculty members. For all-round growth ABVGIET provides the indoor and outdoor games facilities in creaker cricket, football, volley ball, basket ball, athletic meet etc., with full time coaches. There is also a provision for a health centre with treatment of first aid for students in the campus.

The institute provides a total of ten courses which are divided evenly between B.Tech the courses offered are 5 and Diploma courses are 5 more the programmes offered by the institute are full time only. 

The admission procedure in the ABVGIET is fair and transparent while selecting them. In the case of B.Tech programmes, the chances of students depend on how well they perform on national or state level entrance exams. Special consideration may be applied to diploma intake.
