Azad college of education Satara was established in 1955 aware and located in the path of satara is one of the premier institute serving nation by building the future of education. This college for boys and girls is situated at Satara, Maharashtra and has been training budding teacher educators for more than 6 decades. It is affiliated institution and has got recognition from National Council for Teacher Education NCTE it shows that college is very much devoted to teacher education. Azad College of Education is spread over a small campus measuring 0.137 acres and provides four different courses at three different levels of degree with a total strength of students up to 138. The college boasts of a faculty of 13 dedicated and experienced teachers who manage to give individual student attention due to favourable student-teacher ratio. 

Azad college of education prides itself with numerous facilities that exists to complement the learning and teaching process of the students. The library situated in a building of 140 square meters is filled with more than 24000 books, 35 periodical and educational journals. Among the facilities in the building which are of great benefit is the student’s study room and internet connection making the building a favourite for research. The college aims at embracing technology and this through their computer cell that has 12 computers that are internet enabled and an LCD projector. In order to ensure the overall personality development of students of Azad College appear with sports facilities, gym and an auditorium etc. The college also pays considerable attention to the welfare of the students withSexeseparate hostels for boys and girls, consist of thirty and sixty students respectively with all the modern basic requirement. Other facilities include a canteen, a health centre with a first aid station and guest accommodation for faculty members and their families. 

There are four full time programmes being offered in Azad College of Education to fulfil different  of teacher education. The course comprises of two bachelor of arts courses, one diploma course and one more course which is of research nature. Fifty seats are available in the B.Ed programme that is at the core of the college’s offering. Next is the B.Ed Vocational programme with 40 seats which offers vocationally oriented training in vocational education. For those students who wish to do shorter courses then the college provides the school management diploma with 40 places. At the research level, the Master of Philosophy in Education programme is offered with 8 places for students who want to pursue education research at a higher level. The college total student enrolment for all courses offered is one hundred and thirty eight, this is due to the colleges focus on quality education. 

In Azad College of Education, admission level is described to be merit-base and transparent. For the B.Ed and B.Ed Vocational programme as in any other course the admission is decided on the basis of the marks scored in the qualifying examination along with entrance exams. The college follows rules and regulations framed by the state government, UT administration, and the University with which it is affiliated.
